Homeschool Corral

Privacy Policy

Last updated 2 October 2026

The short version. We do not use cookies. Nothing you or your children type into our courses is sent to us or to anyone else; it stays on your own device. We count page views, and nothing more.

The one exception is optional: in the Scholarship Finder you can create a free account with an email address. Searching needs no account; an account is needed to see how to apply, and it lets your saved list follow you between devices and sends deadline reminders. Everything in an account beyond your email is optional, we never ask for a child’s name there, and we never sell what you tell us.

Parents can use the same account for Homeschool Transcripts, to keep their children’s school records and print transcripts, report cards and diplomas. Because a transcript needs it, that tool stores each student’s full name and date of birth, entered by the parent. Records are private until the parent shares a link. Details below.

Who we are

Homeschool Corral is a free website of educational courses and tools for homeschool families, built by a homeschooling family and offered to anyone who finds them useful. It is currently a free beta. This policy covers homeschoolcorral.com and everything on it. “We” and “us” in this policy mean the people who run Homeschool Corral.

What we collect about you

Nothing, unless you choose to create an account (see below). Outside that optional account we never ask for your name. There is no newsletter to join and no contact form. We do not run advertising, and we do not sell, share or trade information about visitors, because we do not have any to sell.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies. There are no advertising trackers, no social media pixels, no session recording, and no Google Analytics.

What we do use: a page counter

Our host provides a privacy-focused measurement tool called Cloudflare Web Analytics, and it is switched on. It tells us roughly how many people visited and which pages they looked at. We use it for one reason: to know whether any of this is useful to anyone.

It is deliberately the least invasive option we could use:

As with any request to any website, your IP address is necessarily involved in delivering the page and recording the visit. We never receive it in a form that identifies you personally, and we do not use it to target anything at you or your children.

What our courses store on your device

Our courses save progress so a child does not have to start over each time. This is kept using your browser’s own local storage. It stays on that device, is never transmitted to us, and we cannot see it. Every course on this site shares one family profile system on a device, so a child picked in one course is the same child in the others.

What is storedWhy
A first name or nickname each child chooses, and a colorSo the course can greet them and show whose turn it is, on their own screen
Lessons passed, scores, stars, accuracy, words per minute and review schedules, for each courseSo progress is not lost when the page closes, and so the parent dashboard can show it
Settings such as sound, theme, voice and speedSo preferences persist between visits

The storage name is homeschool_corral_v1. The Scholarship Finder keeps its own on-device answers and saved list under hc_scholar_v1 (see below), and Homeschool Transcripts keeps its sign-in session and device settings under hc_transcripts_v1. Keys of the Kingdom also remembers, for the current visit only, that you dismissed its note about small screens. The Worksheet Maker stores nothing: its settings travel in the page address so that “Copy link” reopens the same sheet.

Microphone. Toda Lengua (Spanish) can optionally listen to your pronunciation. If you allow it, the audio is processed on your own device by your browser and is never recorded, saved or sent to us. You can refuse or revoke the permission in your browser at any time, and the course works without it.

How to see or delete it

Each course has a Reset progress option in its settings or parent dashboard that erases what it saved. You can also clear it through your browser’s “clear browsing data” or “clear site data” option. Because none of it reaches us, there is nothing for you to request from us and nothing for us to delete on our end.

Children

Our courses are made for children, and we have built them accordingly.

If you are a parent or guardian with a question about any of this, please get in touch using the details below.

The Scholarship Finder

Searching, with or without an account. Anyone can search the Finder. To show you scholarships, your browser downloads the scholarship lists for your state from our site, which is an ordinary page request. Matching runs on your device.

Without an account. The answers you give the Finder (grade, state, interests, and any background questions you choose to answer) are kept in your browser’s own storage under the name hc_scholar_v1, together with your saved list and aid plan. None of it is sent to us. The only exception is a problem report about a scholarship listing, which you send on purpose; it contains the listing, the reason you pick and any note you type, and nothing that identifies you.

With a free account. An account is needed to see how to apply for a scholarship (application links and sponsor contact details). If you create one, we store:

WhatWhy
Your email address (the only required answer)To send your sign-in codes and links and, if you leave them on, deadline reminders
Whether the account belongs to a student (13 or older) or to a parent or guardianTo apply the age rule below
Each student’s label (such as “Student 1”) and the answers saved in the Finder: grade, state, county, city, school or district, plans, interests, colleges, grades and test scores, and any background answersTo match scholarships and keep your matches the same on every device
Your saved scholarships, their status (applied, won…), deadlines, amounts and notes, and your aid planSo your tracker and planner follow you
Any optional “About you” answers: a parent’s own first and last name and relationship to the student, ZIP code, how you heard about us, household size, how many will be in college, and parents’ highest educationTo understand who the Finder serves and make it better
Your reminder and monthly-email settings, a private calendar link, and the date you joined and last signed inTo run the account
A winner’s story, if you choose to share one: the text you write, how you sign it (such as “A parent in Texas”) and, if you choose, the scholarship’s nameTo encourage other families (see “Stories” below)

Everything but your email is optional. You can skip any question, at sign-up or later. Background answers (heritage, faith, disability, military family, citizenship, household income range) are especially sensitive; answer only what you are comfortable with.

The Finder never asks for a child’s name. Each student is labeled however you like (“Student 1,” “Oldest”), and we ask you not to use a real name. A student’s own account never stores a name at all; only a parent may give their own name, and that is optional. We don’t ask for or store a birth date, street address, school ID, Social Security number or phone number.

How we use it. We use your information only to run the Finder: to match scholarships, keep your list and plan in sync, sign you in, and send the reminders you ask for. We also count answers (yours and your students’) in anonymous, combined statistics, for example how many families use the Finder in each state, or what share are homeschooled, so we can see who the Finder serves and what to improve. Those statistics never include a name, an email address, or anything else that points to one family, and we never publish a count so small that it could. If you’d rather not be counted, leave the optional questions blank, or clear them under Account.

What we never do. We never sell, rent or trade your information, never use it for advertising, and never send it to scholarship sponsors. When you follow a link to a sponsor’s website or apply, you are dealing with the sponsor directly and their own privacy policy applies. Only the site’s owners can see account data, and only to run the Finder and answer your requests.

Emails. We send only sign-in emails; deadline reminders two weeks and three days before a saved deadline, if you leave them on; and, only if you turn it on, one email a month listing new scholarships that match and matches due soon. No newsletters or marketing. Reminders link to your account settings, and the monthly email has a link to turn it off without signing in. Our emails come from hello@homeschoolcorral.com; replies to that address are not read, so please write to help@homeschoolcorral.com instead.

Stories. If you mark a scholarship as won, we may invite you to share a short story for other families. It’s optional. We read every story before it appears, publish it only without names (signed like “A parent in Texas”), and remove it whenever you ask. Stories are deleted with your account.

Shared lists. When you share a list, the link itself carries the list title, your note and the scholarships on it. We don’t store it, and it contains nothing else from your account. Anyone you send the link to can see it.

Scholarship sponsors. If you send us a new scholarship or an update, we keep what you send and your name, email, phone and role so we can check the details with you. We don’t publish your personal contact details or add you to any mailing list; we show only the public contact you ask us to list. Email help@homeschoolcorral.com to have a submission deleted.

Signing in. There is no password. We email a 6-digit code and a one-time link; both work once and expire after 20 minutes. A device stays signed in for up to 90 days, or until you sign out. We store only a scrambled (hashed) form of codes, links and sign-in sessions. When you create an account, the answers you gave before confirming your email are held with the code; if you never confirm, they are deleted within about a day. To limit abuse we briefly keep a scrambled form of the email or network address that asked for a sign-in email.

Who handles it. Account data is stored in a database run by our host, Cloudflare, and travels over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Sign-in and reminder emails are sent through Cloudflare’s email service, which receives only the email address and the message. We use no other service for account data.

Your control, and how long we keep it. We keep account data until you delete it. Under Account in the Finder you can change or clear any answer, turn reminders off, download everything we hold about you, remove a student, or delete your account. Deleting it erases your account data from our database immediately. (Our host’s short-term recovery history, which exists to undo mistakes, clears itself within about a month.)

Children and the age rule. Students aged 13 and older may create their own account. We ask for a birth month and year on the student sign-up screen only to check this; it is not stored or sent. Children under 13 cannot create an account. A parent or guardian can create a family account and add a child under 13 by label; the child’s information is provided by the parent, belongs to the parent’s account, and the parent can review, change or delete it at any time under Account. If you believe a child under 13 has created their own account, email help@homeschoolcorral.com and we will delete it.

Homeschool Transcripts

Homeschool Transcripts lets a parent or guardian keep their homeschool’s records and print or share transcripts, report cards, course descriptions, a school profile and diplomas. It uses the same free Homeschool Corral account and sign-in as the Scholarship Finder, and only a parent or guardian account can use it. Children do not sign in or enter anything themselves.

What we store, and why. Everything here is typed in or uploaded by the parent, to keep the records and lay out the documents.

WhatWhy
Your school’s details: name, motto, year founded, address, phone, email, website, the names and titles of the people who sign documents, a logo image if you upload one, your grading choices, graduation plan and the paragraphs for the school profileThey appear on your documents
Your state, the legal option you homeschool under, and when your school year startsTo show your state’s homeschool rules and track what they require
For each student (up to 12): full name and date of birth, grade, entry and graduation dates, and a display colorA transcript and diploma must name the student; colleges also expect the date of birth on a transcript
School years, courses and subjects with grades, credits, levels, hours, who taught them, descriptions, materials and teacher comments; attendance; test scores; activities, awards, volunteer hours and work; diploma wordingThe academic record itself
Attendance: the school days you log and their hours, and your checklist of state requirements (notices filed, testing done, records kept, with dates and notes)So you can see what your state requires, what’s done and what’s left
Private notesFor you only; never printed or shared
Share links you create: who each is for (your own label), which documents it shows, when it expires, and how many times and when it was last openedSo you can see and control who has access

Signing up. Creating an account for Homeschool Transcripts asks for your state and homeschool option, your school’s name, when your school year starts, and each child’s name and grade. These are held with your sign-in code until you confirm your email; if you never confirm, they are deleted within about a day.

State rules. The state requirements we show are summaries of each state’s official sources (laws, regulations and state education agency pages), with links. They are information, not legal advice.

Private until you share. Only you can see your records while signed in. If you create a share link, anyone who has that link can view the documents you chose, until the link expires or you turn it off. Every printed document also carries a QR code that opens the student’s current documents, so a college can confirm them; you can replace that code at any time, which turns off the old one. Shared pages ask search engines not to list them. Private notes are never shown.

Courses taken on this site. When you choose “Add from our courses,” your browser reads the progress your children’s courses saved on that device and fills in the course for you. Nothing is sent to us until you add the course to the record.

What we never do. We never sell, rent or trade these records, never use them for advertising, and never send them to colleges, scholarship sponsors or anyone else; only you decide who gets a link. Only the site’s owners can access the database, and only to run the service and answer your requests.

Your control. You can change anything at any time, delete a student’s records (which also turns off their links), download everything we hold in your account, or delete your whole account. Deleting erases the records from our database immediately; our host’s short-term recovery history clears itself within about a month. The records are stored in the same Cloudflare database as other account data, over encrypted connections.

Children. These records are about children but are provided by their parent or guardian, who must be 18 or older and confirms that when signing in. A parent should add only children in their own care.

Information handled by our web host

Like every website, ours is delivered by a hosting provider, Cloudflare. To send you a page, their servers necessarily process technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the page you requested, and they use it to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. This is ordinary web hosting, and we do not use it to build any picture of who you are.

Bot check on forms. When you ask for a sign-in email or send the sponsor form, the page runs Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that you are a person rather than an automated program. It usually runs unseen; now and then it asks you to tick a box. To do this Cloudflare looks at signals from your browser and connection (such as your IP address, browser type and connection fingerprint), and says it uses them only to detect and block bots. We receive only a pass or fail, never the signals themselves. Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy notice explains how it handles that information.

Other websites

The Scholarship Finder links to thousands of scholarship sponsors’ own websites, and Homeschool Transcripts links to state education sources. Those are ordinary links: nothing is loaded from those sites and nothing is shared with them unless you choose to click through, at which point their privacy policy applies rather than ours. Fonts and every other file used on this site are served from our own domain. The only exceptions are Cloudflare’s own tools described above (Web Analytics and the Turnstile bot check), which load from Cloudflare, our web host.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how information is handled, for example by adding a contact form or a paid area, we will update this page and change the date at the top before that feature goes live, not afterwards.

Contact

Email us at help@homeschoolcorral.com about anything on this page, including a question from a parent or guardian about a child’s use of our courses, the Scholarship Finder or Homeschool Transcripts, or a request to see, correct or delete account information.
